RECREATION BOARD
Eight volunteer Town residents serve on the Recreation Board. Board members are appointed to 3-year terms by the Selectboard. The board oversees all of the Town’s parks, playgrounds, recreation facilities, and other lands used for leisure purposes. The board advises the Selectboard on recreation matters, including preparation of an annual operating budget, suggestions for capital improvements, and recommendations for new or higher fees. A major Recreation Board task is scheduling use of the athletic fields for the many leagues and youth programs. See Recreation under Departments for more information about the facilities.
The Recreation Board usually meets on the second Tuesday of the
month at 7:00 P.M. in the Municipal Building. The Maintenance Supervisor
is the Board’s eyes and ears at the park and playgrounds. He may
be contacted at offices@barretown.org
or by calling 802-476-6174. Alternatively, contact Town Manager
Carl Rogers at crogers@barretown.org
or 802-479-9331.
