EQUESTRIAN
SIGN POLICY
1. A completed Equestrian Sign Application must accompany each request
for an equestrian sign.
2. The applicant must sign and date the Equestrian Sign Application
for it to be considered complete.
3. The Town Engineer will review the application and complete the
Engineering information at the bottom of the application form.
4. The Town Engineer will then investigate the request and whether
it involves a Town resident or a local business. The investigation
will include the frequency of use and the potential number of users.
5. The application will be considered by the Traffic Safety Advisory
Committee at their business meeting.
6. After consideration, the request will be referred, with the
TSAC's recommendation, to the Selectboard.
7. If the applicant is a business where horses are rented, the
business will be responsible for the payment of all materials for
the sign location(s) once they are approved and prior to the installation
by the Town.
8. Criteria for consideration will be determined by the road geometrics,
width of the road, curves, speed limit, traffic count (ADT), dead
ends, the number of horses in the area, etc.
