Election/Polling Place/Hours:.
The Annual Barre Town Middle & Elementary
School Meeting and Election of Officers will be held
on Tuesday, March 6, 2012. Polling hours are 7:00 a.m. -
7:00 p.m. There will also be a Presidential Primary Election.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Vermont law requires that a voter must "declare"
a party and that the election official must record the party on
the Entrance Checklist in order to vote in a Presidential Primary.

Deadline for Petitions for School Directors - 30 signatures - filed
with Town Clerk no later than 5:00 p.m. on January 30, 2012
Deadline to register to vote in the March Election is Wednesday,
February 29, 2012, 5:00 p.m. at the Town Clerk's Office.
The usual polling place for Australian Ballot voting in Barre
Town is the Barre Town Elementary School gymnasium, located
in Lower Websterville across from the Wilson Industrial Park. This
facility is handicap accessible. If you require assistance at the
polling place please contact the Town Clerk’s office at 802-479-9391.

Absentee
ballot request(s):

The early/absentee ballots will be available
approximately 15 - 30 days prior to each election, 45 days for federal
elections.
·
Sample ballots are posted at the locations
under Voter Registration and on this website.
·
Your request can be made in person, by phone
or by e-mail; or
· You
can early vote in the Town Clerk's Office, pick up your own
ballot and take it with you to vote at home, have it mailed, or
make arrangements for two Justices of the Peace to bring ballots
to your home on election day.
·
There are no “standing orders” for absentee ballots.
You must request a ballot for each election. Exceptions:
1) You can request a ballot for both the Primary and General Election,
and 2) Military requests are valid for one year.
· If
you do not sign the voted envelope your vote will be considered
spoiled.
· Voted
ballots can be returned to the Clerk's Office by mail, in person,
through the drop box (located at the front of the municipal building),
or by delivering to the polling place on election day.
