LIBRARY
In the 1890s, Leonard Frost Aldrich bequeathed money for a free
public library in Barre, VT. What is now Barre City was still included
in the Town of Barre. The Aldrich Library, which has been developed
from the generous gift of Mr. Aldrich, still serves all of Barre.
The library is operated by an autonomous Board of Trustees. The
Town and City support the library from their tax revenues.
The Aldrich Library Board of Trustees recently completed a $1.6
million addition and renovation project to the original library
first constructed in 1907. The Trustees also operate a satellite
library in the village of East Barre.
The Aldrich Library has much to offer. Visit its web site at www.aldrich.lib.vt.us
and look inside.
