The Engineering Department provides information about utilities, roadways, construction permits, traffic safety issues, and coordination between the public and the Highway Department. The Engineering Staff is responsible for planning, design, budget, and initial layout for Town construction projects. The Engineer is responsible for signing off on a variety of permits that deal with roads and utilities. Maintenance of record plans for subdivisions is a shared function with the Planning Department. Infrastructure records such as water and sewer services are kept with this department.
The Town Engineer acts in an advisory capacity to the Selectboard, Traffic Safety Advisory Committee (TSAC) and the Planning and Zoning Commissions. An administrative clerk and engineering intern both assist on a part-time basis.
