The Early Childhood and Substance Abuse Prevention Action Group Committee for Success by Six in collaboration with Healthy Babies Coalition and Partners for Prevention, a Regional Alcohol and Drug Abuse Council of Central Vermont has facilitators to lead support groups for young women ages 17-31.
The purpose of the groups is to provide a nurturing environment for these women to discuss issues including substance abuse that affect them.
One of the facilitators is a certified alcohol and drug abuse counselor and one is a registered nurse with a background in maternal-child health. Both facilitators have the following qualifications:
- Maternal child health background specific to pregnant and parenting young women.
- Knowledge and experience with group facilitation and group dynamics.
- Substance Abuse information and training.
- Knowledge about local resources and ability to link people to resources.
Goup sessions are held at the Barre Congregational Church from 9:30 am to 11:00 am on Tuesdays.
Transportation, child care and refreshments are free of charge.
