An informational guide for victims and survivors of crime in Vermont

ROCKINGHORSE GROUP



The Early Childhood and Substance Abuse Prevention Action Group Committee for Success by Six in collaboration with Healthy Babies Coalition and Partners for Prevention, a Regional Alcohol and Drug Abuse Council of Central Vermont has facilitators to lead support groups for young women ages 17-31.

The purpose of the groups is to provide a nurturing environment for these women to discuss issues including substance abuse that affect them.

One of the facilitators is a certified alcohol and drug abuse counselor and one is a registered nurse with a background in maternal-child health. Both facilitators have the following qualifications:

  • Maternal child health background specific to pregnant and parenting young women.
  • Knowledge and experience with group facilitation and group dynamics.
  • Substance Abuse information and training.
  • Knowledge about local resources and ability to link people to resources.

Goup sessions are held at the Barre Congregational Church from 9:30 am to 11:00 am on Tuesdays.

Transportation, child care and refreshments are free of charge.
