Julia Ormsby is the 2008 Washington County Poster winner. Congratulations Julia!
Green Up Day is Saturday, May 3rd this year. We are seeking out groups/organizations in Barre Town to help with cleaning up ur streets and/or financial help to cover expenses. We would like to supply drinks to the many volunteers that will be out cleaning that day and food for a BBQ at noon on Green Up Day. To do all of these wonderful things we need your help! You can volunteer by cleaning up our community, or recruiting staff to deliver drinks to volunters, help with fund raising, or assisting with lunchtime BBQ.
We want to keep Barre Town looking cleaner and more viable to visitors and those wishing to move here. Your help would be greatly appreciated.
Green Up Day History: Vermont was the first state to designate a day to clean up the entire state. It began in 1970 by Governor Deane C. Davis. This 37-year tradition continues with thousands of Vermonters taking care of Vermont. Green Up is a not-for-profit organization responsible for keeping the "Green Up" tradition growing for Vermont. It's success depends ontwo essential ingredients. One is the combined efforts of people like you and me, civic organizatins and volunteers giving of their time; and the second one is the financial support given by the public and private sectors throughout Vermont.
If you or others in your organization are interested in volunteering for Green Up, please contact us at 476-3955 or email us at btvtgreenup@yahoo.com for more information. Monetary donations should be made payable to Barre Town.
Thank you for your continued support,
