WHERE WE ARE; HOW TO REACH US
Barre Town is located in central Vermont in the southeasterly corner
of Washington County, one of only two Vermont counties that do not
border another state or Canada. Barre Town is 40 miles southeast
of Burlington, Vermont's largest city. The City of Montpelier, the
state's capital, is next door. The Connecticut River, Vermont's
border with New Hampshire, is a 35- minute drive to the east. On
a larger scale, Boston is approximately 175 miles to the south and
Montreal, PQ, Canada is 150 miles to the north.
Interstate highway 89 passes by less than one mile from Barre Town's
western border. Exits 6 and 7 serve the town. From Central Vermont
the interstate heads directly to Burlington allowing driving times
of less than one hour to the Burlington International Airport and
one hour to the University of Vermont and Lake Champlain. From Burlington
the interstate turns northward to the Canadian border towards Montreal.
Quebec's largest city is less than a 3- hour drive away. Driving
south less than one hour on I-89 commuters reach the I-89, I-91 continues south to Brattleboro,
VT and Massachusetts, while I-89 turns southeasterly toward Concord
and Manchester, NH.

Area residents frequently use the Burlington International Airport.
The Manchester, NH airport is also used often. At times residents
may drive to Boston's Logan Airport or Bradley Airport in Hartford,
CT to catch their flights. Interstate access is direct from Barre
to all airports. Locally, the state operates the Knapp Airport in
Berlin, VT, our western neighbor. Light commercial and small private
aircraft uses Knapp.
Amtrak has a station in Montpelier. A larger station is located
in Hartford, VT.
